ARTICLE I
Duties of Officers
Section I
The President shall preside at meetings of the Society. He shall appoint all committees. He shall fill vacancies among the Officers and Trustees.
Section II
The President shall, at the August Regular Meeting each year, appoint a nominating committee, with a chairperson, to prepare a suggested slate of officers and trustees for the coming year. The Nominating Committee Chairperson shall announce, at the September Regular Meeting, the suggested slate of officers and trustees and that the election of officers and trustees will be held at the October Regular Meeting. The Nominating Committee Chairperson shall conduct the election of officers and trustees at the October Regular Meeting of the Society.
Section III
The First Vice President shall assume the functions of the office of the President in his/her absence or incapacity. The First Vice President shall serve as Program Chairperson.
Section IV
The Secretary shall keep the minutes of meetings of the Society, send notices of meetings, send notice of the October election of Officers and Trustees and transact correspondence not handled by other Officers or Trustees.
Section V
The Treasurer shall receive dues, issue Membership Cards, keep detailed record of all receipts and expenditures and make financial reports of the monies of the Society at each Regular Monthly Meeting.
Section VI
The Board of Trustees shall uphold and further the purpose of the Society, keep the Society informed of local discoveries and threats to archaeological sites and remains, serve as field ambassadors of the Society, encourage participation in its activities and promote financial support of its programs. The Board of Trustees shall serve in an advisory capacity for the mutual benefit of the Society's Officers and Members. It may call special meetings of the Society. It may, in rare cases, refuse membership to or cancel membership of an individual for just cause. It has supervision over the investing of permanent funds and the handling of property of an endowment nature. It may, in exceptional cases, vote paid membership, for the current year only, in exchange for services rendered to the Society.
ARTICLE II
Buying, Selling and/or Trading Artifacts
Section I
Buying, selling and/or trading artifacts shall not be permitted during Regular Monthly Meetings nor during other scheduled activities of the Society.
Section II
Enforcement of violations of Article II, Section I shall be by the ranking Officer/Trustee present at the meeting or activity.
ARTICLE III
Archaeological Survey/Excavation Committee
An Archaeological Survey/Excavation Committee of the Society shall be appointed as needed by the President, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.
ARTICLE IV
Emeritus Status
Section I
Emeritus Status may be granted to a Society Trustee or Officer.
Section II
At the discretion of the Board of Trustees, Emeritus Status can be recommended for approval by General Membership at the Annual Business Meeting.
Section III
Emeritus Status, in and of itself, does not grant Life Membership, paid Annual Membership nor voting privilege.
